Over the winter we moved to a smallholding that has been in my family for generations. Of course the quails came along with us. Moving means you have to create new places for the quails to live.
Here we have an old timber barn where the quails can romp about. We are not quite finished with the furnishings or the outdoor runs for the quails yet, but that will come together as we settle in.
I have had a few enquiries from readers wondering about furnishing the quail enclosure, how to make it possible for them to brood on their own, and how to create good hiding places. So I have written a separate article about exactly that: Furnishings: tips for good hiding places for quails.
Do have a read and see whether you find some inspiration. Over the five years I have kept quail we have moved several times, so I have built housing for the quails more than once. In the article I share pictures from several of the different enclosures we have had and which solutions I like.
Whether you keep many or just a few, I recommend finding good practical solutions that make it easy for you to look after them, clean and find eggs.
Have a lovely day!
